Ο Πάνος Ιωαννίδης γεννήθηκε στην Αμμόχωστο το 1935..
Σπούδασε M.M.E. στις ΗΠΑ και τον Καναδά.
Χρημάτισε Τμηματάρχης Ραδιοφώνου και Τηλεοράσεως στη Δημόσια Ραδιοφωνία της Κύπρου, από όπου αφυπηρέτησε το 1995 από τη θέση του γ. Διευθυντή Προγραμμάτων.
Είναι Πρόεδρος του Κυπριακού Κέντρου Συγγραφέων ΠΕΝ, επιμελητής των εκδόσεων του Κέντρου και αρχισυντάκτης του τριμηνιαίου πολιτιστικού περιοδικού στην αγγλική, In Focus.
Άρχισε να γράφει και να εκδίδει λογοτεχνικά έργα, αρχικά ποίηση και θέατρο, από το 1955, σε ηλικία είκοσι ετών. Έκτοτε συνεχίζει αδιάλειπτα τη λογοτεχνική του προσπάθεια. Έγραψε και εξέδωσε διηγήματα, μυθιστορήματα, θεατρικά, ποιητικές συλλογές, καθώς και πλήθος ραδιοφωνικές και τηλεοπτικές σειρές και σενάρια. Έργα του μεταφράστηκαν και εκδόθηκαν στο σύνολό τους ή αποσπασματικά σε ξένες γλώσσες.
Τιμήθηκε επανειλημμένα με Κρατικά Βραβεία Πεζογραφίας, με το Βραβείo Θοδόση Πιερίδη και Τεύκρου Ανθία, το Βραβείο Συνολικής Προσφοράς της Ε.Λ.Κ. «Γ. Φ. Πιερίδης» και με Βραβείο τηλεοπτικού θεατρικού για το έργο του Γκρέκορυ, στον Πανευρωπαϊκό Διαγωνισμό στη Σόφια, το 1976.
Το 2007 του απενεμήθη το Αριστείο Γραμμάτων, η υψηλότερη τιμητική διάκριση της Κυπριακής Πολιτείας.

Panos Ioannides was born in Famagusta, Cyprus, in 1935. He studied Mass Communications and Sociology in the USA and Canada. He served as Director of Radio and Television Programmes at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation. He has been writing literature, mostly prose and theatre, since 1955. Works of his have been translated and published in their entirety or in parts in French, German, English, Russian, Romanian, Chinese, Hungarian, Polish, Serbo-Croat, Turkish, Persian, Bulgarian, Swedish, and other languages. His plays Gregory, Peter the First, The Suitcase, and Ventriloquists have been staged in Greece, England, USA and Germany. He served as Chairman of the Cyprus Theatre Organization (ThOK) Repertory Committee, and as President of the Cyprus PEN Centre. He lives in Nicosia, Cyprus.

He has been awarded five National Prizes for Literature by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture for his works.
